Cycling in Darwin: Paths, the Waterfront and Dry Season Riding

Darwin has a growing network of dedicated cycling paths and the Dry season (May to October) is genuinely one of the best climates in Australia for cycling. The main path network runs from Darwin City through the waterfront precinct and along East Point Road to East Point Reserve, providing a flat, scenic coastal route. The Casuarina Coastal Reserve further north has a cycling and walking path through a scenic coastline. Darwin's flat topography makes it well-suited to cycling for commuters, with dedicated bike lanes on several main roads connecting the CBD to the northern suburbs. The wet season heat and afternoon storms (November to April) make morning rides the only practical option outside the Dry. Hire bikes and e-bikes are available in the CBD. The Territory Cycling and Trails Alliance publishes current path information.
