Things to Do in Darwin with Kids: Wildlife, Water Parks and Tropical Adventures

Darwin is an excellent family destination with a tropical offering unlike anywhere else in Australia. Crocosaurus Cove on Mitchell Street in the city centre is one of the top family draws, with the "Cage of Death" swimming experience and large saltwater crocodile enclosures. The Darwin Waterfront Precinct's Wave Lagoon and Recreational Lagoon are outstanding children's water facilities in the heart of the city, with safe supervised swimming in the stinger season (October to May). Territory Wildlife Park at Berry Springs, about 45 minutes south, is a full-day family experience with free-flight aviaries, nocturnal houses and large reptile and aquatic exhibits. The Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) on Conacher Street is free and has the famous Sweetheart crocodile display and a cyclone experience room suited to older children.
