The Northern Territory Government released 180 residential lots in Palmerston on 8 July 2026, with applications open until 22 August through the Land Development Corporation portal.
Defence spending in the Territory has lifted local demand for housing near bases at Robertson Barracks and RAAF Base Darwin. The release targets workers tied to those sites and the mining sector, where median house prices sit near $490,000 across the greater Darwin area.
Two sites sit inside the Palmerston growth corridor. One block fronts Roystonea Avenue and another lies along Chung Wah Terrace, both within 4 km of the Palmerston City Council offices. The Land Development Corporation manages the release under the Territory's Housing Affordability Program.
Latest figures from CoreLogic show Darwin rental yields at 6.8 percent, the highest of any capital city. The new lots carry a median price tag of $215,000, with size ranging from 450 to 620 square metres.
Applicants must hold current NT residency or work in defence, mining or government roles for at least six months. First-home buyers receive a $10,000 stamp-duty concession if they build within 24 months of settlement.
Register at the Land Development Corporation website, upload proof of income and employment, then select up to three preferred lots. Successful applicants receive contracts by 5 September 2026 and must pay a 10 percent deposit within 14 days.
Interested buyers can attend an information session at the Palmerston Recreation Centre on 18 July at 6 pm or call the corporation's Darwin office on 8999 5511 for lot maps and eligibility checklists.
