Official announcements from The Daily Darwin. For media enquiries, see our about page or visit the media kit.

  1. Open data: public APIs

Articles, events and weather available as CORS-open JSON endpoints.

We opened three public JSON endpoints — /api/articles.json, /api/events.json and /api/weather.json — for developers, researchers and other publishers to build on. Local information should not be locked behind a single front door.

  2. Reader-supported referral programme

Every subscriber gets a referral link to share The Daily with friends.

We launched a referral programme so readers who value local journalism can help us grow. Top referrers are recognised on the public leaderboard. The network depends on word-of-mouth, and this is how we say thank you.

  3. Topic guides published

Six pillar guides covering Property, Government, Business, Sport, Living and Courts.

We published a set of long-form topic guides designed to give readers context, not just headlines. Each guide is updated as the underlying stories evolve, and links out to the source documents we relied on.

  4. Morning Briefing newsletter goes live

A daily email digest of the stories Darwin is waking up to.

Readers can now subscribe to the Morning Briefing — a free daily email delivered before breakfast, covering the day's top local stories, weather, and what's on. The first edition reached subscribers across Darwin within hours of launch.

  5. The Daily Darwin launches

Independent daily news for Darwin, built by locals, for locals.

The Daily Darwin launched as a free daily news service for Darwin, combining AI-assisted reporting with human editorial oversight. The masthead joined The Daily Network alongside 18 other Australian cities, each independently edited from the place it covers.
